Bro I have never agreed with an analysis more than this one. This man’s firing on all cylinders and speaking nothing but facts.

People think the Stolas is the one who's getting abused but no one ever think about the situation the wife as to go trough knowing what the husband is. She's of high born set to rule the family one day, her status is incomparable to the others (probably), a wife who wishes a normal family and a woman who wishes to be happy with someone... Only to end up with him. And the only effort he did was give her a daughter... Add to the fact that Stolas actually has an important role in everything regarding the underworld and has abused it for less. Imagine the insanity he's wrought and the embarrassment she's going through. I understand her more than I understand Stolas.

Nah, the single biggest complaint you had was there, but i can at least agree they didnt do quite enough. To make my point, i have to go into spoilers, so stop now if you are avoiding them. Right at the climax when we get to see exactly what "wasnt worth lingering on", every single example shown is a failure of some sort. It isnt that hard to see the subtext "joy put all these memories here, so joy refused to let riley fail when failure itself defines growth", but the movie really did need to spell it out a bit when the metaphor of letting the failures into the sense of self was treated as a side effect or necessary evil instead of the much more accurate correction of their own mistakes.It only would have taken one line or minor change to the dialogue. Instead of the sentiment we got of "we must or we cant fix riley", it should have been more along the lines of "these shouldnt be here in the first place"; Joy vocalizing that her invention to put thoughts out of concern until further notice caused a problem and hurt riley in the long run would have done wonders to fix the issue.

I liked it, no woke bullshit. Disney is regaining common sense.

Having now see the movie (Through completely legal means obviously), I do have a lot of thoughts about it. I really love the first Inside Out, even though it's not a perfect movie by any stretch, I still love it. It has so much heart that is often missing in a lot of movies nowadays (It came out 9 years ago wtf am I talking about nowadays lol). So when a sequel was announced, I was hesitant. For so long, it stood as one of the few (Good) Pixar movies that did not get a sequel, despite the concept actually having a huge amount of potential for sequels, unlike others. Spoilers from here on I guess. One thing I was not particularly happy about was the idea of Riley gaining new emotions. It was pretty set that everyone has the core five and that's it. As you age, your emotions begin to mix together, representing more complicated feelings. Another detail that I love about the first film, is inside the mam and dad's head, their emotions all look like the person themselves, and they all sit at a big control table where everyone has a seat. Not only that, all of their emotions are much more uniform and work together, becasue they're adults. They've found who they are, and as such, their emotions all look like them to represent that. Then in RIley's head, who was 11 at the time, each emtion has to kind of butt in to use the control table, because she's a kid with less emotional maturity. But now in the second film, 4 new emotions all appear. Now listen, kids can get embaressed, kids can be anxious, kids can be bored and kids can be envious. These are not new feelings that appear when you turn 13. I really don't want to get into the discussion about weather this was a good decision or not or weather it makes sence or not. I'll just say, I do not like the retcon, but it's here now so let's leave it there. In terms of the new emotions, I actually like most of them. I love Embarrassments design, and Anxiety's is good too. I would say that Envy really doesn't seem all that envious. She should have been louder and angrier. And then Ennui is... okay I guess. One massive improvement this film has over the first is Riley herself. As was put by LS Mark in his review of the first film, it came across like the emotions were piloting a mech. She really didn't feel like a character so much as a plot device, to me at least. This is all changed in the sequel. Firstly, I love her new design. As much as you could say that for an animated character it would be easy to age them, there can be the little quirks and details about said character that make them that character. You can still absolutely tell that it's the same character from the first movie, just a little older. I especially love the braces for no other reason than that I find them kind of funny (Sorry to anyone who wear braces lmao). Given the new core belief system that was created, it helped to turn Riley into her own character. It's like she has subconcious thoughts that manifest through her actions, as we see by the end of the film where she appologies to her friends without anyone touching the control panel. Now it feels much more like the emotions are guiding her actions, rather than being soley responsible for them. Another element of this that works very well for the film is the fact that Riley is a girl. Now I can't speak from direct experience being a guy, but I don't think it's a reach to say that Puberty is considerably more intense for girls than boys. Not only the biological aspect, but the social side too. Girls are far more cliquey than boys and far more judgemental (If you disagree with that, I'll respect your decision but you are objectively wrong). Couple that with the social expectations that a lot of girls face (look a certain way, act a certain way etc.) means that her intense mood swings feel a lot more true to life than if she was a boy for example. I even think this was somewhat hinted about in the first film and the short film, Riley's Date. When we see into Jordan's head, his emotion guys are just dicking around. Not only that, they all look like him. This seems to be the movie adressing the reality that girls have more complex emtions than boys, which I think most people would agree is very true. I always thinked about that, Hell can get overpopulated. Why cant Heaven? Because if Charlie does her plan and sends up every so called redeemed sinner, Heaven would be overpopulated after some time. Then what? Extermination?

My issue with Inside Out 2 is that it normalizes secondary emotions and encourages teens to accept and work with them, when in reality healthy teens need to learn to identify them as unhealthy and work around them rather than let hem have any kind of lead in their lives. Anxiety: A made up fear response. It's obvious why this one should not be normalized. Embarrassment: This one is normal to some extent, but it should never LEAD people. Shame could be a healthy alternative, though, as that helps people stay away from things that our culture and society knows won't lead them to any successful or healthy ends, ergo, shame comes into play in order to help someone towards success. Embarrassment can be completely unfounded, though, or imagined. Ennui: Basically, depression. This is another obvious one. It is the shut down, or zero aspiration, mode of thinking when people need to be inspired to go out and enjoy life. Envy: Wanting what someone else 'has,' or presents as having. This is basically the little sister to Ennui these days due to social media. We have teens losing drive and ambition because they defeat themselves before they even try (because failure would be scary?), so instead of trying they become bitter, resentful, and of course, envious, and try to tear down others to be in their pit with them rather than say 'good for them' and keep trying for themselves. Inside Out, the first one, actually did a fantastic job. They focused on core emotions, primary feelings. What Inside Out 2 does is pick up on today's toxic ideology, a part of which puts feelings before facts, normalizes poor mental health and zero motivation and zero hope for the future, and basically says 'it's okay to feel these feelings (by the way you're getting heavily medicated next year because of this normalization).' In other words, this is a terrible, horrible movie that does a disservice to the young and impressionable children and teens who watch it.

Envy and jealousy aren't indeed the same thing, but how people use them can be confusing because both create discomfort. Jealousy is the fear of loosing something or someone loved by an external force that usually is attributed to another person, therefore the person can act possessive. (I can't stand that X wants to hang around with z, she is my friend!) Envy, on the other hand, is an inconformity that comes from comparing yourself to another that has something perceived as better which makes you covet what the other has that you don't. (You have that? I want it!) Which is worst? It depends on how you express those feelings with your actions and how you reason with the situation.

I just saw it, and it was hard to watch as a 13 year old. I loved the original, especially since I have suffered from anxiety and depression for most of my life, so it hurt how I couldn't enjoy it that much. My favorite part was the panic attack though, with anxiety so fast but not moving at all being perfect. I really hated the personality/belief thing though. It was just kind of there for the plot, but it didn't do what it needed. It was just kind of hard to watch, and the message felt strange because all the memories that were thrown away were simply just really cringy and useless. It also seemed to forget certain parts of the previous movie. I'm glad I didn't overestimate, I knew it was going to be a trainwreck. There was going to be a but there, but I couldn't find one.

I love Stolas... But the man just needs to hear Blitz out, and not immediately back out. He set up this conversation, and also backed out of it. Neither were ready. Stolas wasn't emotionally prepared, and Blitz LITERALLY WAS NOT INFORMED of this whole conversation. It can work out, and I hope it does, but they need to have an actual conversation. They need to tell each other how they were feeling, and what they want changed, and the other needs to hear them out and change if it is to work. Stolas needs to hear Blitz out, stop calling him cute names, because he doesn't like it. And Blitz... He's gonna need to overcome his self hatred a bit for it to work. In the end, communication is key, and I sincerely hope that they'll sit down, talk, and hear each other out. No leaving, no excuses, none of that. Just talk, and take action. :]

I watched episode one and two for the first time back to back and Jax was the exact same.

This episode disappointed me, the break up felt rushed and out of nowhere

I honestly thought that the new emotions would've been purely formed by Joy punching all the bad memories to the back of Riley's mind. Like, her actively suppressing the memories literally made the new emotions

The scene where Riley had a panic attack was the thing that most hit home for me. Considering how relatable it was

Small note that I don’t see that much wrong with the Elaine and Merlin thing, as there are people who look like children (me being a great example, people who look at me always mistake me for being 9) but the problem is that they keep doing weird stuff that makes it seem less like actual rep for "looks like a young child but is a grown adult who doesn’t act like a child like every other character in media with the trope" people and more like the creator's barely disguised f3tish

The only real nitpick I have about the movie is that Riley's behavior seemed a tad over the top sometimes. I don't think her reactions to her emotions were quite that exaggerated in the first movie, so it came across as a bit silly in some cases... Like, it had me wondering if her parents worried that something might be wrong with her lol. But then again, I haven't been a preteen for a veeeeery long time, so maybe it's more accurate than I'm remembering. 😆

I only want to correct you about the sex part (i think) Blitz was coming on to Stolas as we can see in S2 E1, so, Stolas probably thought that Blitz likes it that way, so that's probably why Stolas continues acting that way. Just a probable theory i have.

I still don't like how they added emotions when they showed us the emotions in adults and none of these where seen.

The writers like to have their cake and eat it too.

Any striker pairing plummeted for me once they had to recast him and we lost Norman Redus' sexy growl. He's just lost WAY too much in his vocal performance that he feels more like a joke character now [which wasn't helped by the Striker Song and statue.]

Anyone using Stolas being out of meds as an explanation, doesn't understand meds. Just as it takes about a month for new meds to start having an effect, missing a day isn't gonna have an immediate effect [not unless they are some form of EXTREMELY strong narcotic and missing your regular dose sends you right into withdrawal.]
